I am a retired Teacher, an Inspector of Education, an Artist and a Master and Teacher of Usui Reiki and Karuna Reiki®.
I was primarily a landscape painter, working plein air and also from photographs of scenes that inspired me. My dawn and dusk scenes are recognisable due to my instinctive style. I have progressed rapidly from being a water colourist to experimenting with all the mediums, pigments and surface textures. Acrylics and oils are my favourites. I enjoy portraiture and comfortably take on commissions to paint animals (pets including equestrian with or without the master) from good quality photographs. A free photo shoot can be arranged if within reasonable traveling distance. In my effort to extend my techniques from naturalism to impressionism, like many artists, I am influenced by Monet's works. I have attempted in his style, the prized Lilly Pond, Le Havre and the famous Japanese footbridge to mention a few. This has helped me to produce paintings that display abstract qualities. Recently, I rolled out a series of abstract paintings, using Oils and Acrylics for the Lechlade Art Society Exhibition where I am the Membership Secretary and Web Developer. I also developed a flair for Epoxy Resins although not all my works are completed this way. Depending on the request I produce bespoke frames to complete projects. I am at the beginning of a long, interesting journey in an entirely new direction. This is a bigger challenge for my development and comfort zone. My paintings give me great satisfaction and an opportunity to express my feelings about life, of love and the spiritual essence of creation. |
